LEGACY FORMATS

 

Up until very recent years, tape formats were still being used in mass proportions by post production houses, content libraries and broadcasters all across the world.
Nowadays however, these tapes, regardless of what specific type, are considered obsolete. As such, any masters and material of similar importance, should be digitised and backed up for future proofing as soon as possible.

With loads of unique content only available on tape and waiting to be digitised, it is important to be aware that legacy formats deteriorate with time and the deterioration rates will depend on a number of factors and regardless of how great the conditions they may be stored in, to digitise your unique content should be considered a priority. Simply because the media quality that we may be able to capture from it today may indeed not be as good tomorrow.

As standard we capture the content as QT ProRes 422 HQ. Capturing the whole content on a single tape, including 24bit uncompressed audio, continuous time-code and any ancillary tracks.
